Mark Gagner, beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 63 at his home in West Fargo, North Dakota, after losing his battle with diabetes. He was born on June 7, 1962, in Crookston, Minnesota, and lived a life defined by strength, craftsmanship, generosity, and a deep love for his family.

Mark grew up with a strong connection to the outdoors, spending time on horses and dreaming of becoming a cowboy, while developing a work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life. He proudly played football for Mentor High School, where he built the determination that helped shape the man he became. His days and nights often rolled on into pool games, loud music, and time spent playing in a band, fully embracing a lifestyle that was anything but quiet.

As an adult, Mark continued to chase adventure, trading dusty horses for “steel horses” and finding freedom on the open road riding his Harley. He loved fishing and hunting, and as a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his team—unless he happened to be snoring loudly in his recliner.

Mark had a special bond with his dogs, who greeted him every morning with unwavering loyalty and joy. He was loved by friends across the country and remembered for his steady presence, resilience, and kind heart.

A highly skilled carpenter, Mark had an incredible eye for detail and took great pride in his craft, creating beautiful work meant to last. He was always one to lend a helping hand and had a natural instinct to fix things—whether it was a project, a problem, or a moment when someone simply needed help. His hands could build anything, but it was his loyalty, generosity, and strength that left the deepest impression.

Above all, Mark was a proud and loving father who raised creative, kind, and strong-hearted children.

Mark is survived by his parents, Rolland and Nancy Gagner; his loving children, Ashley Gagner and her fiancé, Matthew Lopez, Deja Gagner, and Dylan Gagner and his significant other, Brooke Sargent; his stepson, Adam Amiot and his significant other, Sam Saunderz; his brother, Jim Gagner; his sister-in-law, Cathie Gagner; his nieces and nephews, Dusty and Kay Gagner, Tiffany and Eric Sackett, and Nick and Erin Gagner; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Izzy, Scott, Stetson, Ellis, and Talia; and his granddaughter, Bella.

Mark is reunited in Heaven with his brother, Scott Gagner, and his niece, Ariel Gagner.

A funeral service will be held to celebrate Mark’s life and the legacy he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association – see link below.

Mark’s life was one of grit, heart, and devotion to those he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
