Marlene Catherine Daul, 73, Fargo, died unexpectedly at Innovis Hospital in Fargo on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Marlene was born on April 16, 1936 in Monticello, Minnesota to Paul and Leola Presseller. She moved to Crookston as a child and then to St. Cloud, MN where she graduated from Cathedral High School in 1954. Marlene studied X-Ray technology in St. Cloud before working in Mason City, Iowa and at St. John’s Hospital, Fargo. Wilhelm ( Bill) Daul and Marlene were married on June 20, 1959 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud and made their home in Fargo. Marlene selflessly gave her time to the young and the elderly. She volunteered for the PTA, Head Start and the Fargo Schools Literacy Program. She volunteered at the Fargo High Rise, with the Senior Commission, at Americana Health Care, at Fraser and she taught land and water aerobics at Riverview Place. Marlene was an active member of the Celiac Group and of Soroptomists, a volunteer organization for women who work to improve the lives of other women and girls. She was a Charter member of Nativity Church. Her active involvement at Nativity was the heart of her life as she directed the religious education program, the Nativity Christmas Eve Party, the Befriender Ministry and most recently as a Sacristan. Her selflessness was demonstrated as a volunteer in disguise as “Honey the Clown” and “Mrs. Claus”. She was also an avid gardener and participated in the Fargo Garden Tours. She enjoyed cooking , baking and reading. She especially loved being a grandmother. “Nana” always brought smiles to her 9 grandchildren with special gifts and attention. Marlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by many. Marlene is survived by her husband, Wilhelm (Bill) Daul; children, Leola Daul, Fargo, Jennifer(Scott Wulff) Daul, St. Paul, MN, Melissa ( Victor) Youngs, Fargo, David (Meredith) Daul, Minnetonka, MN; grandchildren, David, Julia and Geoffrey Youngs, Marie, Cecelia and Justine Wulff, Browdie, Jonah and Chloe Daul; sisters, Elizabeth ( Betty) Mische, St. Paul, MN, Susanna Presseller, St. Louis Park, MN, Sharon (Loren) Sunstrom, Piqua, FL; brothers, Paul ( Virginia) Presseller, Bonita Springs, FL and Jerome ( Patti) Presseller, Punta Gorda, FL. A Celebration of Her Life will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Nativity Catholic Church, Fargo. There will be a Prayer Service in the church at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Friday in the church and one hour before the funeral in the church. The burial will be at Holy Cross North, Fargo. Memorials preferred to the Presentation Sisters, Fargo and Father Jack Davis, Los Amigos del Padre Juan, West Fargo, ND.
