In Loving Memory of Marlene Monica Tschosik

Born on February 20, 1943, in Bismarck, ND, Marlene Monica Tschosik peacefully passed away on October 24, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a devoted daughter, a loving wife, a nurturing mother, a cherished grandmother, and a beloved sister.

Marlene’s faith was a core part of her upbringing and life. She was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic in Strasburg, ND where she served as a communion minister and member of the St. Mary’s Society.

She had a deep love for nature, as evidenced by her passion for gardening. What began as a small hobby blossomed into a magnificent display of vibrant flowers and flourishing plants that adorned her house. Her green thumb and dedication brought her immense joy and comfort throughout the years. Additionally, she had a knack for cooking, delighting her family with homemade meals that brought them together around the dinner table. So many of us would love to have had her cream chicken, caramel rolls and homemade buns just one more time.

Marlene’s journey began in a humble country school, where she laid the foundation for her pursuit of knowledge. This thirst for learning remained with her throughout her life, shaping her into the wise and compassionate woman she became.

On June 11, 1966, Marlene exchanged vows with Gene Tschosik in Bismarck, ND, an occasion blessed by Father Paluck who introduced them to each other. The couple established their home on the family farm outside of Strasburg, ND, creating a welcoming and nurturing environment for their children. Marlene treasured her role as a mother, imparting invaluable life lessons and showering her children with unconditional love. She also worked as both a cook and caregiver for many years at the Strasburg Nursing Home.

Marlene leaves behind a beautiful legacy, as she is survived by her children – Mary (Dan) Piwowar of Royalton, MN; Lyle Tschosik of Roseville, MN; Lynn Tschosik of Fargo; Loren Tschosik of Fargo, ND; and Sr. Maria of Jesus Crucified (Dannette), Lake Elmo, MN. She also leaves behind twelve cherished grandchildren and one precious great-grandchild.

In her passing, Marlene is mourned by her surviving siblings: Ida Kottenbrock of Bismarck, ND; Willie (Hilda) Gartner of West Fargo, ND and Esther (Duane) Burman of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene, her son, Darnell, parents and beloved siblings, Rose Mary Ell and Viola Hartin.
Marlene Monica Tschosik’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her unwavering dedication to her family, her nurturing spirit, and her passion for gardening and cooking will continue to inspire. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.

  1. May the Lord place his healing hands on your heart as you memorialize, mourn, celebrate and remember your beautiful Marlene. She was an amazing woman (and cook!) My personal favorite were the thin pancakes she made when we were guests at the farm….and roasting marshmallows in the fireplace. Prayers for your peace and comfort….and God bless.

  2. “May the Angels Welcome her to paradise” A beautiful tribute well written obituary. So sorry for the loss to the Tschosik family.

  3. Sincere sympathy to the Tschosik family. A caring and friendly lady that help to raise a good family. May she Rest In Peace, RIP

  4. Such a beautiful soul who raised amazing children! May she rest in the arms of Jesus for all eternity!
