Marlys A. Weibye, age 90, died on January 8, 2025, at Mayville, ND, Hospital.
Marlys Ann Kaupang was born on March 18, 1934, in McIntosh, MN, to George “Melvin” and Mildred (Knutson) Kaupang.
She married Marsall Weibye on June 4, 1952, In Santa Maria, CA. They lived in several towns in Minnesota before moving to Hillsboro in 1982. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
She loved our country farms, growing a garden and canning tomatoes, different kinds of pickles, relishes and fruits. She loved being in the kitchen cooking her meals, making the best gravy, out of all sorts of meats. When we had family gatherings she would make her famous potato salad. Her other hobby was reading books (lots of books) from her favorite authors. She worked at the Halstad Living Center until retirement, in the kitchen which she enjoyed. She loved and enjoyed family and friends the most. She was strong and stubborn, a great sense of humor, very kind hearted, and a wonderful laugh. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her, including her companion, “Lilly” her little Shih Tzu of 13 years.
She is survived by her children Jerry Weibye of Brooks, MN; Marcia Onsgard of Halstad, MN; Mark Weibye of Hillsboro ND; and Martin Weibye of Parkers Prairie, MN; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sisters Pattie Benson of Albertville, MN; Judy Hagen, Lorene (Todd) Tranby, and sister-in-law Mary Goodwin all of McIntosh, MN. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Leslie Goodwin, sister Carol Carver, brother-in-law Richard Benson, Dennis Ekeberg, Howard Carver, David Hagen and daughter-in-law Michelle Weibye.
