Marvin Oscar Clemenson, 89, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on November 3, 1935, in Horace, North Dakota to Oscar and Mary (Anderson) Clemenson, Marvin lived a life full of laughter and love.

After grade school, Marvin met his beloved wife, Dorothy Peterson, through his sister, Betty. On September 16, 1956, they were united in marriage and went on to raise a beautiful family together in the Fargo-Moorhead area. For over 46 years, he dedicated his career to American Crystal, showcasing his commitment and diligence as an operator.

A true man of many interests, Marvin found joy in music and had a special fondness for coin collecting, delighting children he ran into with old two-dollar bills. He also took much pride in his Norwegian heritage and showed that often by his love for eating lutefisk. However, nothing ignited his spirit quite like fast pitch softball. As a talented pitcher, Marvin captured hearts on the field and was celebrated for his achievements, including his induction into the Hall of Fame for his championship-winning team in 1981.

Marvin’s faith was an essential part of his life. He was a dedicated member of First Lutheran in Fargo, later Trinity in Moorhead, and finally Bethlehem Lutheran in Fargo, where he found community and connection.

Marvin leaves behind his cherished memories that hopefully will be passed on for years to come.

He is survived by his son, Ryan Douglas Clemenson; grandchildren, Sommer (Greg Schafer) Clemenson and Francis Pusok; 9 great-grandchildren, Caitlin Clemenson, Jacob Clemenson, Carson Schafer; Tyler, Elizabeth, Kimberly, Tiffany, Francis Jr., and Bridgett Pusok; 2 great- great-grandchildren, Avery Clemenson, Raegan Lilleoien; siblings, Oliver (Lorna), Betty Lien, and Emily Olson; sister in laws, Ruth Ann Held, Mabel Kyes; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents; daughter, Anne Clemenson; and 7 siblings.

  5. I met Marvin over 20 years ago in the clinic. I loved our visits. We knew so many of the same people and being Norwegians was a wonderful connection. It was fun seeing him out and about. My sympathies to his family. He was a good friend.

  6. My sympathies to Marvins family. Another family relative laid to rest. Memories go way back of get togethers on holidays, years when we were raising our families and just relatives keeping in touch. God bless the memory of Marvin
