Mary Jane Norman died May 25, 2019 in Fargo, ND. She was born in Fargo on January 18, 1928 to Charles and Adelia Wendorff of Casselton, ND. Her mother died when she was two months old and she was raised by her aunt, Gertrude Sproule in Fargo, ND. Mary Jane graduated from Fargo Central High School where she was an honor student. She then attended UND where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. Mary Jane met and then married Robert “Bob” Norman on Nov 5, 1949 in Grand Forks. They were charter members of Holy Family Catholic Church. She worked at Bray’s retail store and assisted at the Norman Funeral Homes. She also volunteered with Meals On Wheels and Tufte Manor. Mary Jane loved to play tennis, golf, bridge and dance. She traveled to Europe and she had homes in Mazatlán, Mexico and at Apache Wells in Mesa, Arizona. Mary Jane loved walking the beaches, looking for shells, and watching the sunset for the green flash over the ocean. Her children and grandchildren saw the fun in her life there and enjoyed many Christmases and vacations in Mazatlán. Her children and friends would say she was the life of the party. She is preceded in death by her parents, her aunt, Gertrude Sproule, her husband, Robert “Bob” Norman, son, Mark Norman, husband, Robert “Bob” Mattson, sister, Dorothy Lindsay, cousin, Harold “Pinky” Kraft, son-in-law, Bruce Carlisle MD, and grandson, Robert John Carlisle. Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Nan Carlisle, Fargo, ND: Corey , Christopher (Catherine), Kiras and Avery, Casey (Natasha), Bethany, William, Molly, Casey, John, Dominic and Michael, Kelly (Tom) Kopp, Porter, Briggs, and Maris; son, David Norman, Fort Lauderdale, FL: Carmen Norman (Drew) Parsley, Nixon, and Brandt, Trisha (Brandon) Solemsaas; daughter, Christine (Tom) York, Bismarck, ND: Katie (Derek) Rognlien, Elise, Evan and Aiden, Jenny (Tyler) Leier, Layken and Payton, Julie (Travis) Bjerk, Lyla, very special companion, Vern Steinmetz, cousin Laura Mae Armstrong, Omaha, Nebraska. There will be a prayer service at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center at 7:00 pm Wednesday with visitation 5:30 to 7:00. The funeral will be at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church at 10:30 AM Thursday with visitation one hour before in the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND at 3:00 pm Thursday. Memorials preferred to First Choice Clinic, Hospice of the Red River Valley or Eventide on 32nd.
