Mary Kelly

Mary E. Kelly, 94, Fargo, ND. died Monday, Feb.16, 2009 in ManorCare. Mary E. McCabe was born on July 6, 1914 to John and Elizabeth (Ginther) McCabe in Thief River Falls, MN. She moved to Alexandria, MN with her family where she grew up. She graduated from high school there in 1934. She received her degree in education from the Normal Training School. She taught school in Garfield, MN and Lake Mary, MN. Mary married Edward T. Kelly in Alexandria, MN on June 19, 1939. They moved to Fargo, where the couple raised their family. She later returned to college at Moorhead State University, receiving a degree in elementary education and later, special education. She taught first grade at Nativity in Fargo and the first, second and third grade at St. Francis for two years. She then taught for the Casselton School District for six years. She taught special education for the West Fargo School District, followed by South Elementary for another thirteen years. Mary retired in 1980. She spent many summers with her family at Pelican Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1995. Mary is survived by three sons, John (Connie) Kelly, Perham, MN, Rick (Connie) Kelly, Pelican Lake, MN, Gene (Eva) Kelly, Fargo, ND; two daughters, Betty (Steve) Baldwin, Golden Canyon, AZ, LuAnn (Bruce) Oakley, Gold Canyon, AZ; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one brother, Chris (Bobbet) McCabe, Alexandria, MN. Mary was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Lois Anderson; and a brother, John McCabe. Visitation: Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Boulger Funeral Home.
