Mason’s service will be livestreamed below starting a half hour prior to service at 2:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2022.

Mason C. Roth, 21; God called Mason home to heaven, on December 16th, 2021, with his parents by his side, at the Sanford Broadway Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Mason was born April 5th, 2000 at Dakota Heartland Medical Center, Fargo, ND; son of Patrick and Barbara Roth, West Fargo, ND. He graduated from Sheyenne High School, with honors and STEM recognition in May 2018. He would further his education at Moorhead State Community and Technical College; graduating in May 2021 as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, earning an AAS Computer Programming Degree.

Mason loved school and learning new things. He excelled in Math, Spelling and Writing but did well in all courses. His mind made Chess playing easy; he could often be found at various local chess competitions and events over the years or challenging family to a playful match.

Mason had a passion for anything that dealt with computers, and especially loved to create and design video game levels. He had great knowledge of everything dealing with Super Mario Brothers and Marvel and D.C. Super Heroes.

For fun Mason liked to swim, fish, play games with family ranging from Scrabble, Cribbage, Pinochle, and Chess along with many other card and board games. Attempting to escape locked puzzle rooms and seeing the latest superhero movies at the theater was a pleasure of his.

Mason also liked to travel with his family to various destinations throughout the USA. Some of his favorite places were Belle Shores Resort, Nevis, MN, Disney World, Florida, Disneyland, California, and numerous National Parks. He was looking forward to one day getting to see Super Nintendo World being built as part of the Universal’s Epic Universe in Florida.

Mason had such a unique, special, gentle, sweet soul that will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him. We know that he will continue to keep a watchful eye on his brother Spencer from above as he did while here on earth.

Mason was preceded in death by his grandparents; Arlin (Sam) Mertz, John Grate, Larry and Bonita Roth.

He is survived by his parents Patrick (Barbara) Roth; brother Spencer Roth; grandmother Marlene Grate; uncles – Stacy Mertz, Cameron Roth, Jeremy Mertz; aunt Rebecca (Vincent) Scherr; cousins – Kylie (Jeffrey) Weber, Jace, Kelcey, and Dylan Scherr, Isabel and Colby Roth; godmother Lois Mertz.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2022 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo, ND, in the Garden of Devotion area.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Dear Barb and Pat, I’m so sorry to hear of Mason’s passing. I don’t know if you remember me, but I worked with Spencer when he was in our early intervention program – a long time ago. I remember when Mason was born. I loved what you said about him watching over Spencer now as he did in life. I’m sure there is a bond between them that will continue forever. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Debra Pullen

  2. My Dearest Mason,
Tomorrow it will be 6 months since you left for heaven. We’ve put on about 280 miles coming to visit you in the last month; so I guess it’s a good thing the cemetery is only 10 miles away from our house.

The memorial service and burial for you, Grandma Bonnie and Grampie Larry turned out so beautiful. I am thankful that we have the video recordings to go back to and rewatch them; as I draw added strength and comfort from them and all those that have given us their love and support, and continue to reach out during this time.

Missing you so much my sweet boy. – Love, Mom
