Mathia Ruth “Mae” (Thisted) Fitzloff age 82 of Fargo, ND passed away on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026.

Visitation and Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 starting at 9:00 a.m. with service at 10:00 a.m. at: Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th Street South, Fargo, ND. Private burial will be at a later date in St. Clair, MN at the Lutheran Church Cemetery off Highway 83.

Mae was born July 27, 1944 Albert Lea, MN to Leslie and Doris (Albers) Thisted. She graduated from Albert Lea Public School, Albert Lea, MN May 1962.

June 28, 1964, Mae married Raymond Herman “Tiny” Fitzloff, Jr. and from that marriage, there were 4 children, Dawn Rae, Cheryl Ann, Karl Frederick and Mark Raymond. They would reside at the farm Ray grew up on northeast of St. Clair, MN until November 1985. Mae’s job at MidTex in North Mankato would then move the family to Watertown, SD and Mae followed her job, moving the 3 younger children with her to Watertown, SD. Mae was later divorced and moved to Phoenix, AZ then to Fargo, ND.

During Mae’s early years of marriage, she worked on the farm alongside Ray and his dad, doing field work, and one she loved most was plowing the field after the crops were out. Mae felt relaxation time on Sunday afternoons bouncing in the field plowing. Mae had the wonderful opportunity to be an at-home mom for a few years when her children were younger. As Mae’s children got older, Mae worked for Carlson Craft, then as a Personal Care Attendant for the nursing home in Janesville, MN. Mae would then find a fulltime job in North Mankato with MidTex as an electronics part maker for various machines. Mae had many friends and some neighbors that worked for MidTex making it a fun place to work.

Mae enjoyed life on the farm, teaching her children lots of things like mowing the yard, baking, making lots of banana bread and bran muffins. Mae was an awesome cook as well, on weekends making lots of wonderful tasting meals. Thanksgiving and Christmas were the best. Mae’s family would gather for big, wonderful meals at the farm or at Mae’s parents’ home in Mansfield, MN or sisters’ homes in Wells, MN. Cards were played, dice were shaken and word games were played with lots of giggles by all. Mae would continue this tradition over the years, her door was always open to all to join in. One of Mae’s favorite meals was a German meal passed down from her grandma which was boiled bread dough and fresh peaches and included kupftwurst. This meal too would be a tradition that was carried on for many years even today.

One of the best memories that Mae really enjoyed was baking, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The giggles and smiles that remain in memory from all the little hugs, kisses and smiles, Mae will always treasure. These treasured moments will always bring Mae a smile even on her toughest days.

Mae is survived by her daughters, Dawn McGregor (Mark) Mankato, MN and Cheryl Feiock Pierre, SD, sons’ Karl (Mirna) Fitzloff, Chanhassen, MN, Mark (Melissa) Fitzloff, Fargo, ND, grandchildren Kaitlyn Fitzloff, Kaleb Fitzloff (Alex), Dylan McGregor, Danielle McGregor, Kameryn Fitzloff, Brianna Feiock, Kennedy Fitzloff, Luka Fitzloff, Mateo Fitzloff. Great grandchildren Bexleigh, Kyler, Jakob, Ensleigh and Anthony. Sister Dee (Larry) Bratrud Mesa, AZ. Nieces and nephews Bruce (Stephanie) Texas, Mikkel (LeAnna) and Melissa (Tom) Arizona) Tim, (Melissa), Nicole (Marty), Chad (Ellie) and Matt (Joy) Wangen and families. Special mention, Beth, Danica and family and Richard Moore. Many extended cousins join the list. All moments were always treasured at family gatherings.

Mae was proceeded in death by her parents, ex-husband Ray “Tiny” Fitzloff, ex-in-laws Ray and Anne (McNamara) Fitzloff, Leslie and Doris (Albers) Thisted, sister Ellen (Keith) Wangen, infant sister Lola Kay, and brother Bruce (Shirley) Thisted.
