Maverick Allan Scott McQuay of Fargo, ND became an angel on Monday, February 6, 2023.
On October 19, 2022, Maverick was born into a family that adored him. He was our brightest rainbow after the darkest storm, giving us all such immense joy. Alert right from the start, he soaked in every word, as he discovered his voice, he would join right in the conversation. He loved his mom rocking him to sleep at night and would wake with a smile every morning for his dad. That big bright smile went all the way up to his eyes and warmed our hearts. He had a sense of humor, thinking we were funny, and his newly discovered laughter was contagious. He never wanted to miss a thing, but he would still snuggle into our arms for a quick nap. Once awake you could find him making music on his piano play mat or enjoying songs being sung to him.
He was too perfect for this earth. Every single moment with him was a treasured gift and he left us with so many precious memories. We will honor and keep his memory alive until we are reunited with him in heaven.
Maverick is survived by his parents, Kelsie Grunewald and Zach McQuay. His grandparents, Scott and Wendy McQuay, Brett Grunewald, Julie Grunewald and Derek Stockley. Great Grandmothers, Nina Fischer, Yvonne Miller, and Connie McQuay. Aunts, Amanda (George) Higgins and Chelsey McQuay. Cousins, Bradie Grunewald, Cadi Grunewald, and Payson Peterson. Multiple great aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brayden.

Scott, Wendy, Zach, and Chelsey. We hold you and thought in prayer in these upcoming days and weeks. There is no doubt that even though I never got to meet him I feel like I did through the love that you had for this beautiful little boy.

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful little boy. My heart goes to you all. You have a beautiful family that now has a beautiful sweet angel. I know that doesn’t soften the grief, but he will always be in your heart.
