Max’s service will be livestreamed on this page shortly before it begins.

Max Lane Melby was born on October 17, 1954, in Watford City, ND, to parents Alice (Bowers) and Alfred Melby. He grew up in Alexander, ND, and graduated from Alexander High School. Following high school, he moved to Fargo and began a decades-long career as a dishwasher, first at The Bowler, at Mom’s Kitchen, at Moorhead State, and finally at Sanford Hospital before retiring.

Max was the father of four children in his first two marriages. In 1993, he met and married Linda Eagon and they spent the ensuing nearly 30 years together. They loved to travel on bus adventures, mostly involving country music. Max was an avid sports fan and loved the Twins and Vikings, attending Twins games whenever he could. In retirement, he and Linda moved to New Perspective Senior Living in West Fargo and thoroughly enjoyed the activities and friends there. They were members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Max is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Jason and Darcy; and a brother, Lynn Melby of Peoria, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alfred Jr.; and his son, Lynn.
