Maxine Mary Matthys, 93, Fargo passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Sanford Health, Fargo.

Maxine was born in Fargo, North Dakota to Charles and Marguerite (Rooze) Matthys. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1947 before moving to St. Paul and working for Western Union from September 1947 to 1949. She moved back to Fargo and worked at Northwestern Bell from 1949 to 1959. She returned to school and took her LPN training in Crookston, graduating in 1960 before going to work at St. Ansgar’s Hospital until 1989. She also worked for Midwest Home Health otherwise known as MeritCare Home Health. She worked on a part-time basis until later in life.

She volunteered at Holy Spirit Church and at St. Vincent’s Thrift Store.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce Matthys and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ken Matthys.

Funeral Mass: 9:15 A.M. Friday, May 12, 2023 at Riverview Place Chapel, Fargo.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery North, Fargo.
