September 27, 1931 ~ January 23, 2015
Maxine Theodora Rostad, 83, Fargo, ND formerly of Kindred, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo. She was born on September 27, 1931 to Nels and Ruby (Husebye) Grant in Kindred, ND. She grew up there and graduated from Kindred High School in 1949. Following high school, she attended Interstate Business College. Maxine worked at Gate City Bank for four years.
On September 1, 1951 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Rostad at Gol Lutheran Church. The couple moved to the family farm in rural Kindred in 1954, where they raised their children.
In 1971, she began working as a bookkeeper for Farmers Union Oil Co and was there for 11 years, until her retirement. The couple moved to Fargo in 2001.
Maxine belonged to the Homemakers Club and the Hobby Club. Other interests included hardanger and other needle work. Always willing to share her hardanger pieces, she was even featured in the Fargo Forum for her altar cloths and baptismal gowns. Two of her grandsons and two great-grandsons were baptized wearing the gowns she made for them. She loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook; homemade doughnuts were her specialty.
She is survived by her children, Kristi Korsmo, Northwood, ND; Michael (Janet) Rostad, Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Betty (Raydon) Workin, Fargo; brother-in-law, Mike (Vonnie) Rostad, West Fargo; grandchildren, Amy (Bryce) Boyd, Sioux Falls, SD; Grant (Kathryn) Korsmo, Grand Forks, ND; Christopher (Nikki) Rostad, Fargo, ND; Jordan Rostad, Fargo, ND, great-grandchildren, Owen and Eli Boyd; and Elsie Rose Korsmo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; sister, Rozella (Leonard) Stoutland; and son-in-law, Steve Korsmo.
