Wake Keeping:
We are mourning and grieving the loss of our loved one: our father, uncle, cousin, and grandfather, the Reverend McCauley Saydee-casbah Elijah Jarbah, which occurred on December 26, 2023, at his daughter Keturah and her husband’s residence in WestFargo, North Dakota surrounded by his daughters, sons, in-laws, and grandkids. This loss is one of the hardest things that ever happened to our family. Our emotions are raw. Our hearts are broken.
Lowell Mason, the song’s writer: “SERVANT of God, well done”! Writes: Rest from thy loved employ; The battle fought, the victory won, Enter thy Master’s joy. The voice at midnight came. He started up to hear A mortal arrow pierce his frame. He fell but felt no fear.
Tranquil amid alarms, it found him on the field, A veteran slumbering in his arms,
Beneath his red-cross shield. At midnight came the cry, to meet thy God, prepare!” He woke up and caught his captain’s eye. Then, strong in faith and prayer,
His spirit, with a bound, left its encumbering clay; His tent, at sunrise, on the ground, a darkened ruin lay.
The pains of death are past; Labor and sorrow cease, and life’s prolonged warfare closed at last; his soul is found in peace.
We are hurt, troubled, and broken. But we take consolation in the good old book of the Bible in Revelation 21:4: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, nor shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Romans 8:18 also says: “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory that the good old Lord will reveal to us later.”
