Melvin was a very good neighbor on 21st Street in Fargo. A kind man who liked to tell stories about his days with the Fargo Public Schools. I would bring him homemade soup and he always called me beautiful. Rest In Peace, Melvin. You had a good, long life.
Thank you for being such a kind neighbor and friend to Melvin.
Melvin has been such a big part of my life. I will never forget him and I love him very much. I’m so thankful that his son, Michael and I were able to sit with him during the 9 days he was in hospice care and that I was with him and holding his hand when he passed on Sunday morning. Melvin was at peace and ready. He knew he would be joining Karen in heaven and looked forward to that.
We were so blessed to be able to celebrate his 91st, a week earlier with several relatives. He definitely felt special that day. Micheal and his two grandsons, Luke and Nick brought him such joy and he’s so proud of them.
Don and I will always cherish our memories of uncle Melvin.
In recent years, I came to know Melvin while visiting a friend at the North Dakota Veteran’s Home. Melvin was such a quiet and kind soul who enjoyed reading in his white Ford truck. I used to tease him about trading my old Pontiac for his white truck, and this put a smile on his face. I’m sure at 91 he outlived friends, but he made a friend who is proud of his service to his country and his family. Be assured of my prayer at this time. He will be missed.
