Melvin Leroy Hayes 68, of Bemidji, MN, passed away at the Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, ND on November 25 2020.
He was born on November 17, 1952 to Myron and Florence (Nelson) Hayes in Bemidji, MN., where he lived his entire life.
He is survived by his children, Randy and Angie Hayes of Bemidji, his siblings, Calvin, Dennis of Jay, NY and Susan of Peru, NY, their spouses, several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents, a brother Ronald, a nephew Brian, and Sharon Vick, special friend and mother of his children.
There will be no calling hours or services at Melvin's request.
Donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association, American Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

Mel was such a nice guy. He had such a good heart. I am sorry to hear his last years were such a struggle due to his health issues. Prayers sent for his journey, I know Ronnie, Brian and his folks await him with open arms.
Mel was a beautiful soul. He will be missed very much. I find comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and suffering. I will always cherish the short time I got to spend with him. He will forever live on in our hearts.
