Melvin Parr

Melvin B. Parr died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, in Innovis Health, Fargo, ND, at the age of 68. Melvin Bernard Parr, son of Carl and Ragna (Lien) Parr, was born February 2, 1935, in Browns Valley, MN. Melvin attended grade school in Fertile, MN, and graduated from Fertile High School. In June of 1955 Melvin enlisted in the Navy and spent 22 ? years in San Diego, CA, Hawaii, Moline, IL, and his last few years in the service as supervisor at the Naval Recruiting Office on Broadway in the White Drug Building in Fargo. After retiring from the Navy in February 1977, Melvin sold insurance for Brooking Mutual & Real Estate. Melvin was united in marriage to Betty Beyers on March 24, 1958, in Fertile, MN. Melvin and Betty had four children. Melvin was a very creative person and was considered a great entrepreneur. Melvin became ill in 1986. He and Betty spent quite a few winters in Florida and Arizona. Melvin is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Jack (Michelle), Horace, ND; two daughters, Cynthia (Dale) Gifford, Fargo, and Debora (Shannon) Schock, Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Montee (Lloyd) Stigen, Hillsboro, ND, and Janet Ricard, Grand Forks, ND. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy; his parents, a sister, and four brothers. Melvin was dearly loved by his family and will be very missed. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Boulger Funeral Home Chapel, Fargo. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Friday in Boulger Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
