Melvin W. Stickel, 74, passed away July 13, 2007 at the Sheyenne Care Center of Valley City, North Dakota where he had resided since August 2001. Melvin was born August 6, 1932 in Sydney, North Dakota. Mel lived on a farm and attended school in Windsor, North Dakota. Mel enlisted in the Army on September 26, 2950 and served in the Korean Conflict in Germany. He was discharged on September 11, 1953. Mel served in the Air Force Reserve from 1955 to 1959. Mel married Theresa Altringer on January 6, 1954 and they resided in Jamestown, North Dakota. Melvin was a police officer with the Jamestown Police Department for 10 years and then a deputy with the Stutsman County Sheriff=s Department for 10 years. They moved to Casselton and he was employed with the VA Hospital in Fargo for 20 years. Melvin enjoyed hunting, bowling, and dancing. He was very active in the Jamestown Eagles. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Mel was very into his family and took great joy in all of his children, grandchildren and especially great grandchildren. Melvin is survived by his wife, Theresa Stickel of Fargo; three sons, Thomas (Kim) Stickel, Fargo, Terry (Cora) Stickel, Lehr, ND, James Stickel, Fargo; two daughters, Debbie Stickel and Joan Kamranian, both of Fargo; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Jeremy) Stickel, Misty (Tom) Lulay, Mike (Amber) Kamranian, Shawn Kamranian, Christy and Kathy Stickell, Timmy and Noah Stickel; six great grandchildren, Sammi and Lexi Stickell, MacKenzie Guest, Michaela Kamaranian, Preston Ramirez and Samuel Lulay. He is also survived by one brother, Chris Stickel, Oklahoma and one sister Nora Schielke, Jamestown, ND. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Christof and Rosie; three brothers, Alden, Jake, Edwin; one sister, Verna and his son Jerry. Visitation: Monday, July 16 from 5-7 pm at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Prayer Service: Monday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service: Tuesday, July 17 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. Interment: Holy Cross South Cemetery, Fargo, ND. Arrangements entrusted to Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
