Merideth Sorensen
May 1, 1983 ~ April 14, 2020
Merideth Lois Sorensen, 36, of Gardner, North Dakota, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, after a courageous two-year battle with Triple Hit Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The generosity of many people allowed Merideth to spend her final days surrounded by the sounds of her children playing and under the devoted care of her loving husband and Hospice. Her strong faith in Jesus enabled her to pass gracefully to the other side.
Merideth was born on May 1, 1983 in Fargo, North Dakota to Michael P. and Roxanne (Muir) Ludwig. She is survived by her husband Troy Sorensen, her children Domenic (18), Abrianna (10), Hunter (8), and Hope (1). Merideth is also survived by her parents Michael P. and Roxanne Ludwig, and her sisters Michele Sager (Ashton and Rachel), Melanie Persellin (Ryan and Lillian), and Miranda Persellin. Merideth is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Kenneth and Lois Muir and her paternal grandparents Michael and Theresia Ludwig.
The greatest joy of Merideth’s life was to be a wife and mom. She became a mom in 2001 to her first-born Domenic. In 2006, Merideth met the love of her life, Troy. They were married on April 3, 2010 and recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. Together, they added three children to their family, filling Merideth’s heart with devotion, love, and unspeakable joy. Her love for kids extended beyond her own as she spent many years working at the YMCA and Little Steps. Throughout her recent battle, Merideth always made it a point to fulfill her mom duties: dreaming up fun activities, planning birthday parties and holidays, tending to scrapes and bruises, and providing comfort after a tough day. Her love for her family knew no bounds.
Merideth was a best friend to many – from her childhood, work, and community. She was outdoorsy, enjoying camping, grilling, and sitting around a bonfire. She loved to spend time near the water, whether it be a small pool in the yard, the lakes in Minnesota, or the ocean in Florida. She longed to see the mountains again and had dreams of a girls trip with her sisters. Merideth’s love for the people in her life and her faith in God gave her the strength to keep fighting and living each day with purpose.
One of Merideth’s most cherished memories was singing her anthem, “Don’t Give up on Me” beside Andy Grammer. It was a fulfilled dream that lifted her up many times when things seemed impossible. This experience brought people from all over the world into her story, inspired others, and gave her the strength to live a full life even when she was down to her last breath.
Merideth’s family would like to give their thanks for ongoing devoted care provide by Hospice, Hannah Erickson, and all of her medical teams at Sanford Fargo, Mayo Clinic and National Institute of Health. Merideth’s family also wishes to give thanks to the gracious outpouring of support given by the surrounding community and the broad Facebook community who have been involved in her treatment plans, needs, and her journey back to her family in North Dakota.
The family will participate in a private service at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo, North Dakota. The family looks forward to celebrating Merideth’s life and her journey to Heaven in the summer of 2020 at a time when friends, family, and the community far and wide can join together to share their stories, memories, and their love for Merideth.

Merideth we watched you grow from childhood to an amazing wife and mother. Your earthly pain and suffering has come to an end as you are now wrapped in the arms of our Lord. My heart aches for your family as well as your dad, Mike, whom we have known for years. No one can know what the family is going through now nor can we pretend that we do – it just plain sucks.
