Merle Anders

Merle Anders, age 75, of Argusville, ND, passed away on January 11, 2025, at the Sanford Hospice House with his stepdaughters by his side.

Merle Lee Anders was born March 10, 1949, in Britton, SD, to John and Augusta Anders. He was the youngest of 11 children and grew up in Cogswell, ND. He graduated from Sargent-Central High School in 1967 and attended Wahpeton State School of Science for Autobody Repair, graduating in 1969. He worked at Walt’s Body Shop and Roger’s Auto Body before working at Corwin Collision Center for 29 years, retiring from there in 2011.

Merle married Elizabeth Dubord in 1974, and they lived in West Fargo, ND. They divorced and he moved to Harwood around 1986. Merle met Sue Bohnet in 1992. They married and moved to Argusville, ND, in 1993. Sue passed away in 2012.

Merle spent his retirement doing the things he loved – fishing with Sue and other friends, hunting, working on old cars, going to car shows, going on car cruises, drag racing, going to NDSU Bison football games, and hanging out with friends and family.

Merle will be remembered for his humor, one liners, selflessness, and generosity to his family and friends. He always thought of others before himself.
Merle is survived by stepdaughters Heather Worden, West Fargo, ND; and Tania Leevers, Parker, CO; son-in-law John Leevers; grandchildren Candi (Jeremy) Bult; Taylor (Masiel) Leevers; Kayla (Nick) Burton; Marin Leevers; and Jack Leevers; great grandchildren Tori, Harper, and Chandler Bult; Ethan Leevers; and Nolan and Nash Burton; sisters Mary Lou Coultas and Betty Frantsvog; brothers Neil and Gene Anders; many nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

Merle was preceded in death by his wife Sue; his parents John and Augusta; brothers Don, Ray, Ken, Jim, and Dan and sister Shirley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans of America; Vietnam Vets; Sanford Hospice House; and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND.
