Michael Leonard

Michael Stewart Leonard, age 51, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Michael was born on March 21, 1975, in Beaufort, South Carolina, to Charles Leonard and Janie (Dixon) Kirkland. He attended Groveland High School in Groveland, Florida.

Michael held a CDL license and worked as an over-the-road truck driver. Throughout his life, he called South Carolina, Florida, and North Dakota home. He enjoyed building model cars, watching Star Trek, and spending time working on his truck alongside his sons, Michael and Walter.

Michael was previously married to Anna (Bailey) Leonard and Rebecca “Reba” Shiek.

Above all else, Michael was a loving father, son, brother, and loyal friend. He had a big heart and cared deeply for those around him.

Michael is survived by his sons Michael Leonard Jr., Daniel Leonard, Walter Leonard, and Carrigan Leonard; stepdaughter Kaitlynn Shaw; grandchildren Daryl Culbertson, Alexander Barnes, Keith Barnes, and Kylie Scott; father Charles (Pat) Leonard; brothers Dewey Kirkland (Stephanie Baily), Charles Leonard, Eli Kirkland, and Nick Kirkland; sister Glenda Dixon; and stepsister Daniele (David) Owens; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Dana Leonard; mother Janie Kirkland; stepfather Daniel “Danny” Kirkland; and his grandparents.
