Prayer Service:

Michael “Teddy” John Binder, 58, of Fargo, ND, passed away surrounded by family on January 12, 2025. Born on October 6, 1966, in Jamestown, ND, Michael lived a life filled with service, love, and passion for his family and community.

Michael attended and graduated from Emanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1984. Shortly after, he proudly served in the United States Marines during Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield from 1988 to 1992. Following his military service, he volunteered with the Jamestown Fire Department, where he also worked as an inspector. In 1999, he relocated to Fargo and joined the Fargo Fire Department, where he continued to exemplify his commitment to public service.

In July 2001, Michael married the love of his life, Tammy Myers. Together, they ventured into a successful business, launching Tammy’s Towels and More, and he dedicated many years as a custodian at Bethlehem Lutheran Church alongside Tammy. Known for his enormous heart—affectionately earning him the nickname “Teddy”—Michael was a beacon of kindness and generosity.

Michael’s life was a celebration of family, faith, and service. He had a knack for giving out challenge coins to fellow veterans, reminding them of their sacrifices and camaraderie. His interests included playing guitar, enjoying video games, and indulging in all kinds of sports on TV. A true history enthusiast, he loved sharing his knowledge with students at Bethlehem, connecting historical events to biblical times, enriching their understanding of the world.

Although he has departed from this world, Michael’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness, laughter, and unwavering love. The time spent with him will forever be treasured by all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his wife, Tammy; daughters, Ali, Lexi; sister, Joann Seekins; nieces and nephews, Twila Seekins, Bud Seekins, Sasha Seekins, Darc Bender-Olpini; great nephew; Ted (Amanda) Erdahl; and many cousins and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Maragret; step-dad, Albert “Shorty” Eberhardt; and sister, Janice Harr.
