Born in: Grand Forks, North Dakota
Resided in: West Fargo, North Dakota

Michelle Y. Miller, 67, of Fargo, ND died peacefully in her home on February 22, 2026 with family and friends by her side.

Michelle was born on May 4, 1958, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Judith (Butler) and Wallace Nikle before moving to Fargo as a child. She graduated from Fargo North High School in 1976. She married Jerry “Butch” Miller in October 1978, and together they welcomed two children, becoming devoted and loving parents.

While her children were growing up, she spent many years lovingly running a home daycare, caring for countless children as if they were her own. Later in life, she worked in accounting roles at several banks and at the Doublewood Inn, where she was known for her reliability and dedication.

She will be remembered for her deep appreciation of the simple beauty of everyday life – tending to her beloved birds and flowers, listening to music, collecting paintings and vases, and watching the trees change color each fall. Above all else, she cherished her parents, siblings, children, and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.

Michelle is survived by her daughter, Courtney (Terry Houle) Miller; her son, Zachary (Stacy) Miller; her grandchildren, Tristan and Lily Houle, and Brooklyn, Brynn, Mackinzie, and Maddox Miller; her siblings, Jeff, Jan, Joel, Mark, Wendy and Jared; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kullen Miller; her former husband, Jerry “Butch” Miller; her parents and grandparents.

Guestbook

  1. Dear Miller and Nikle families,

My heart goes out to you during this time of sorrow. May Michelle now rest in eternal peace and joy with our loving God, wrapped forever in His gentle and merciful embrace. May the promise of everlasting life bring you comfort and hope in the midst of your grief.

I remember Michelle well from our days in Grand Forks, especially as Janice’s younger sister. Those memories remain a quiet blessing, and I am grateful to have known her. She will always be remembered with warmth and affection.

May God surround you with His strength, fill your hearts with His peace, and hold you close in the days ahead.

    With deepest sympathy and prayers,
    Fr. Tim Bushy
