Mike Daner
Michael Peter Daner passed away February 11, 2023, at the age of 73 at St. Catherine’s in Fargo, ND. A celebration of life will be held this summer and Mike will be laid to rest at ND Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery in Bismarck.
Michael was born July 15, 1949, to William and Marjorie Daner in Bismarck, ND. After Michael graduated from high school in 1967, he went on to study Political Science at UND, Grand Forks, ND.
Mike was a union carpenter, entrepreneur, built a mobile home park in Beulah, ND and worked at the San Onofre nuclear plant in California.
He was an avid lover of travel and the great outdoors which brought out the legendary free spirit that defined him. He traveled to the Nepal Himalayas and he had a passion for hunting, fishing and skiing in Jackson Hole, WY.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel D. Daner. Mike is survived by four sons, Jackson (Carrie) Daner, Cody (Amber) Daner, Joseph Daner (Magen), Jesse Daner (Pamela), six grandchildren (Mia, Emily, Abigail, Aliva, Angel, Hendrix) and one sister, Mary Jo Daner-Varah.
Michael’s generous heart and big smile could be felt by anyone he met. He will always be remembered with much love by his family and will be greatly missed by many friends. We know he is at peace with God.
The world is a lonelier place with Mike’s absence. His smile and twinkle of the eye always brought a smile to those that were lucky enough to be in his presence. His children were his rock with whom he loved dearly. I treasure the time I shared with Mike, building projects, hunting and fishing and spending summers on the river playing cards and Cro-Shoes with the Sandzibar crew. We may be the poorer without Mike’s presence but the folks in Heaven are whooping it with his arrival. Sorry Mike, but your ascension to paradise doesn’t mean you’ll never get stuck with the Queen of Spades in Hearts, shoot every duck in the sky or win at Cro-shoes. Get the court swept Bud and get out the cards because we’ll be joining you before you know it! Love and miss you friend.
Well said Bob and I concur.
Earth may be a lonelier place with Mike’s absence but Heaven is rejoicing. His quick smile and twinkle of the eye brought happiness to all who knew him. He treasured his children and never uttered an unkind word towards another individual. My personal memories of Mike include working with him on various construction projects, hunting and fishing and playing cards and Cro-Shoes on Sanzibar Island, a sandbar on the Mighty Mo south of Bismarck. Just because you’re in Paradise Mike, don’t think you’re not going to get stuck with the Queen-of-Spades or lose at Cro-Shoes when we hopefully join you. Love you Mike and will see you soon on the other side.
