Mona Johnson

mona johnson

Mona Rose Johnson, 57, Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Essentia Health in Fargo.  She was born on May 4, 1956 in Moorhead, MN to Ronald L. and Theresa (Rheault) Thorson.  She was raised in Fargo, attended Nativity School, and in 1974 she graduated from South High School.  Mona was united in marriage to Michael G. Johnson on April 19, 1975 at Nativity Catholic Church and they made their home in Fargo.

Mona began her employment at Dakota Clinic Pharmacy in 1974 and enjoyed her work there for 39 years.

Mona was the rock of the family, keeping everything organized, making lists, and getting things crossed off right away.  She was everyone’s best friend, always thinking of other people, and ensuring everybody was included.  Her kind, caring, and helpful nature will be greatly missed.

Mona loved spending time with her husband and sons, especially over a cup of coffee  at the lakes.  She and Mike bought a lake home in 1979 and then built a new one two years ago, where they enjoyed the last summer and fall together during her illness.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Mike; her sons, Ian (Anne Denham) Johnson and Lane Johnson; her brothers, Nickolas (Susan) Thorson and Randy (Julie) Thorson; and  her sister, Yvonne (Joel)  Christoferson, Litchville, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and nephew, Ryan Thorson.

    Mike, Ian and Lane,

Words just cannot express our deepest sympathy. I have so many fond memories of the time our families spent together. As a young child to a young adult, I always looked forward to when “The Johnson’s” were coming over for a visit. Mona was such a funny, warm and kind soul. Her smile was pure and her laughter from her heart. May God hold you tight in this time of sorrow, may He be with you when the memories make you smile and when they bring tears.

  16. It was with a heavy heart I read of Mona’s death today. I first met Mona as a Mother of her two sons when they were attending South High School. She was an amazing Mother and my last conversation with her at the gym was how so very proud she was of each of them. I also got to know Mona as a fellow gym participant. She was always so positive and even when her health was failing, she had an amazing attitude. I will miss her smiling face at the gym. My deepest sympathy to Mike and the boys.
