Monica Jean Anderson, 98, formerly Mayville, ND, passed away December 29, 2023, in Fargo, ND.
Monica was born on October 11th, 1925, to Fred and Clara (Bye) Enger in rural Hatton, ND. Following high school in 1943, Monica worked at the Northwood Hospital and briefly at the old hospital in Mayville. In the late 50’s she ventured to Minneapolis, MN and spent the next 30 years working at Abbott Hospital and then Abbott Northwestern.
She married Curtis T. Anderson in 1976 and they remained in Minneapolis until retiring to Mayville in the late 80’s. She worked at the nursing home briefly. Curtis passed away in 2002 and Monica remained in Mayville until October of this year when health issues prompted her move to Fargo.
Monica was a generous soul; giving of her time and talents, especially at Little Forks Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She worked hard in her day, was an excellent cook, entertained graciously, and preferred an organized, clean surrounding. Monica embraced life and her faith guided her through the final chapter of her journey to her heavenly home. Blessed be the memory of Monica Jean Anderson.
Monica is survived by nephews, David (Eileen) Enger, Steven (Dorothy) Enger, Paul (Laurie) Gramstad, William Roholt and Michael Roholt; niece Kathy Sherva, several great nephews and nieces, stepchildren, Curt and Sue, step-grandchildren Katie and Jack, and several step-great
grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Douglas (Lillian), Clark (Nathalie), and Fred Jr.; sisters, Dorothy, Mary (Bill) Roholt, and Donna (Robert) Gramstad, just 11 days before Monica; as well as several nephews and nieces.
Sympathy to Monica s family. Marilyn (Orvis) Bye
I remember when Monica and her sister moved to Mayville, and lived side by side in a duplex. We worked at LMH together, and I thought their living arrangement was one I would love for myself, if widowed. Such a great friendship! I haven’t lived in Mayville since 1991, but her name brought back fond memories. Blessings to the family as you remember her rich, interesting life!
