Muriel Meyer

Muriel L. Meyer, 90, Moorhead, MN, formerly Grandin, ND, passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Muriel was born March 18, 1926 near Flom, MN to S. Edwin Stende and Nellie Nelson Stende. She was baptized and confirmed at Aspelund Lutheran Church near Flom. She attended school at District 46 in Becker County and graduated from Ulen High School. She attended Detroit Lakes Business College and later obtained a degree in journalism.
She was united in marriage to Orville Meyer in 1946. They lived in Fargo where she worked in the offices of Gamble Robinson and Ed Phillips & Sons before moving to Grandin, ND in 1948. She worked at Agway in Grandin for 17 years and wrote for the Hillsboro Banner and free-lance writing, having stories in the Fargo Forum and items in two national magazines.
Muriel was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Grandin where she was active in the Mission League and taught Sunday school for 17 years.
She and her husband collected antiques and collectibles and sold them for many years. Her other hobbies included knitting, crocheting and sewing. She made lap robes for nursing homes and the Vets Hospital, caps and scarfs for the homeless and underprivileged. She was an avid reader and a crossword puzzle fan. While in Grandin she belonged to the homemaker’s club, bridge club, birthday and Mothers Club and was active in the PTA and Community Club.
She is survived by three sons; Terry (Clarisa), Hankinson, ND, Wendel (Marcia), Fargo, ND, Bradley (Bonnie), Prescott Valley, AZ, seven granddaughters, two step-grandsons, five great-granddaughters, six great-grandsons, several nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 9:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Burial: Aspelund Lutheran Church Cemetery, Flom, MN.
