Myrtle I. Andvik, 86, formerly of Kindred, ND, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, in Elim Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Myrtle Ingeborg Andvik was born November 5, 1917, in Mott, ND, the daughter of Anton and Martha (Haakenstad) Salle. Myrtle graduated from Mott and received a teaching certificate from Dickinson Teachers College, Dickinson, ND, in 1938. Myrtle taught school at New England, ND, before marrying Lloyd Andvik on June 9, 1946. Myrtle enjoyed quilting, painting, and gardening. She was an active member of the Kindred American Legion Auxiliary and the West Prairie WELCA. Myrtle is survived by her sons, Lyle (Kathleen), Dean (Patricia), and Bruce (April), all of Kindred, ND; and her grandchildren, Chris (Vicki), Brett, Stephanie, Cory, Carrie, Elizabeth, Hilary, and Auston Andvik, all of Kindred. Myrtle is also survived by two sisters, Annabelle (Alfred) Vangsness, Kindred, and Clara (Don) Drotts, Deer River, MN. Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Martha Salle; her sister, Hilma Nettum; and her husband, Lloyd Andvik. Funeral services will be held at West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Kindred, at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Visitation will be Friday from 4-6:30 p.m. in Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Burial will be in West Prairie Cemetery, rural Kindred.
