Nathan Paul Solseth (55), of Leonard, ND, entered the presence of the Lord on March 6, 2025, surrounded by his family at Essentia Hospital following a brief illness. Nathan was born to Larry and Kathleen Solseth on October 3, 1969, in Minneapolis, MN.

He grew up in Moorhead, MN, and Mapleton, ND, attending Park Christian School and graduating from Central Cass High School. Following high school, he attended Trinity College in Deerfield, IL. Nathan was a lifelong learner with a deep love for history and numerous other subjects. His favorite textbook, however, was the Bible, God’s Holy Word.

Following college, Nathan began working at McDonald’s as a janitor and quickly was promoted to management. He also worked at Oak Grove as a Resident Assistant in the dorms where he met fellow RA, Allison Moe, who would soon become the love of his life. Nathan and Allison were married on November 1, 1997. They made their home in Fargo, ND, and later moved to rural Leonard, ND. They eventually worked side by side for over 20 years in the travel industry.

To Nathan, a day spent with family and his beloved dogs, was the perfect day. Nathan had a passion for many things including perfecting his craft and preparing delicious meals on his grills and meat smoker. He was a foodie (Sandy’s donuts, anyone?) and loved making Norwegian delicacies like rommegrot and kringlar each Christmas.

He loved to read. Whatever it was that piqued Nathan’s interest, he would quickly become a student of that subject, researching every aspect, gaining so much knowledge, that he soon became an expert. We never had to worry about the weather, because the family “meteorologist” always had his eye on the sky and the radar.

More than anything, Nathan’s love for His Savior, Jesus Christ, guided every step of His life. He was a Bible teacher, using his gifts to teach adult Sunday School, lead Bible studies and when called upon, would preach on Sunday mornings. He loved to tell everyone and anyone about how much God loves them.

Nathan was preceded in death by his mom, Kathy. He is survived by his wife, Allie, his dad, Larry, sister and brother-in-law, Lissa and Michael, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Michelle and Dave and Ryan and father and mother-in-law, Bob and Dixie, nephews and nieces, Zach, Callie and Kai, Becca and Peter, Libby and Cort, Addie, Paula, Kaleigh and Connor as well as many other beloved family and friends.

  1. A great friend was lost too early. I’m happy I was able to get to know Nathan. I’m praying for Nathan’s family during this difficult time. 🙏

  2. Allie, Melissa, Larry and families…

I am so sorry for your loss but as you know Nathan is free and home at last!!!

I will continue to pray for you all!

  3. A candle is lit for you my friend. You will be missed. God bless you and your family.

    Love, David

  4. So very sorry for your loss. Nathan was a shining light, a wonderful influence and a brother in Christ! I will certainly miss seeing him around town, at Sandy’s and will always remember the time spent together in the travel business. I take great joy and knowing that he is with our Lord and Savior.

  5. Dearest Nathan, I met you in Casselton and we found friendship and joy through music. Your sweet, smooth, tenor voice will always ring in my ears. Your clear, ringing message of hope and victory in your faith was heard all around. It defined you. You lived every moment of every day cloaked in that glorious love. I will NEVER forget you.
“Put me in Coach, I’m ready to play,” was what you sang then, and it’s what you’re singing now! Always your friend. JJ

    • This is so beautiful, Jeanine. Thank you. Nathan was so fond of you. I will never forget the night he sang “Centerfield”. He was so proud to have been a part of the CCHS music program.

  6. May the Lord Jesus Christ grant you and your family the comfort His word promises in yhis season, in the Jesus name Amen..

  7. I’m still processing this, brilliant student of God’s word sitting at the feet of Jesus, feasting on the promises of God he clung to so dearly. My heart continues to hurt and yet I rejoice for the sufferings in life he will not have to carry any longer. I will be there on Thursday night and Friday from my living room in Indiana. I will not let myself be distracted by anything else because I want to fully be there there with your entire family. It feels so heavy at this point. I just pray that as the days pass and the memories bring smiles and above all, the hope of eternity with Christ will bring you the comfort you need in the months ahead.

  8. Allie we were saddened to hear of Nathan’s passing. But we know with his deep faith he is rejoicing now with the Lord.
We have known you since our bible study group more than 20 years ago. It was always a learning experience and-and lots of fun. We have fond memories of both of you. Take care of yourself Alley.God bless you and your family.

  9. Allison,

Though I never met Nathan his obituary and many tributes are beautiful. What a truly wonderful man you married. My prayers and thoughts have been with you and will continue to be. Losing your best friend, your partner is tremendously hard and at such a young age. I pray for strength for you, for support to lean on and for those memories you’ve created to sustain you until you meet again.

  10. Allison and family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Nathan was a great guy and will be missed by many. How lucky you are to have found such a wonderful love.
    Deepest condolences Shelly
