Neal Andrew Widme, 73, of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026 in Fargo, ND.

Born on February 3, 1953, in Grafton, North Dakota, Neal lived a life defined by his love of family, the outdoors, and the freedom of the open road. He was a man of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and a generous spirit whose kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Neal found his greatest happiness in spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted partner, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest pride was the family he helped build.

An avid outdoorsman throughout his life, Neal had a deep passion for hunting and fishing. Whether sitting in a deer stand before sunrise or casting a line into a peaceful lake, he found comfort in nature and treasured every opportunity to share those moments with the people he loved.

Neal also had a lifelong love for riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The open road brought him a sense of freedom and adventure, and he cherished every mile he rode. His Harley was more than a motorcycle—it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and love of life.

Neal is survived by his beloved Spouse of almost 37 years, Sharon Handeland; his son, Chris Widme; his stepchildren, Heidi Myhre, Jason Handeland, Tonya Leitheiser, and Leslie Bernhart; several cherished grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Widme and Effie Widme; his brother, Dick Widme; and his sister, Joan Sevigny.

Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, those who knew Neal will remember his warm smile, his dependable nature, his love of the outdoors, and the joy he found in the simple things in life. His legacy will live on in every hunting season, every day on the water, every Harley ride down a country road, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

A Celebration of Life honoring Neal will be held in Fargo, North Dakota. Family and friends are invited to gather to share stories, celebrate his life, and remember the many wonderful memories he created.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Neal’s love, wisdom, and adventurous spirit will live on through those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
