Neil Buringrud, 72, Harwood, North Dakota passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, in the comfort of his home.

Neil was born on May 15, 1951 in Fargo, North Dakota to Einar and Marian (Oien) Buringrud.

Neil graduated from Argusville High School in 1969 and went on to attend the Wahpeton State School of Science (NDSSS). He spent many years dedicated to and working on the family farm before moving to Harwood.

Neil was an avid sports fan and loved to reminisce about his pitching days for various fastpitch softball teams and playing basketball at NDSSS when they won the national championship, but he was best known for his pool playing.

Neil is survived by his son, Ryan; daughter, Candace; brother, Dave; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barb (Jim) Burley, and Julie (Ernesto) Ortiz-Chirinos; several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunt and uncles. His life ended too soon and he will be missed by many.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rick.

A family gathering will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at a later date.

  4. Our sincere condolences to Neil’s family. Neil was my teammate on the Gaslight pool league team. Many fun years we had way back when we were in our 20’s. And my husband worked with Neil at GPK. He will be missed.

He stored a couple of vehicles in his out building’s for me which I appreciated. Neil was a great pool shark. He will be missed. RIP my friend.

  9. Wow. We’ve known each other for a very long time. We’ve had many good times together. The times ( very few times ) I beat you at pool. You said you let me win. I’m sticking to I beat you. Hehe. Living with you I learned alot about you. You are a very dear and compassion man. I saw a side of you very few get to see. I will miss you dearly and love you.

  10. Neil had a 20 year old mind in a 70’ body. When it came the weekend he kept it interesting. You never know what outcome is going to happen.I knew Neil over 7 years. I enjoyed listening to him while talked about his past with family and friends. His passion was gardening, he would bring tomatoes in the Grill from left over canning. We would exchange recipes while conversation was flowing. Everyone knew Neil of being a pool shark. He would invite me in partners if game going on.. I’m glad he could take over., if I was not holding my own. Neil will be missed of his favorite corner at the Grill.. Great memories Neil Thanks..
