Nicholas "Nick" R. Pappas, 93, passed away May 6, 2011 at Bethany Assisted Living Center in Fargo.

Nick was born September 24, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri to Micheal and Julia (Groven) Pappas.  He grew up and graduated Central High School in Kansas City.   Nick learned the craft of tailoring rising to the position of alterations manager at the exclusive Jack Henry's Men's store located on the Plaza in Kansas City Missouri. In 1967 he moved to Fargo where he and his wife Hetty operated Ferdinand's Tailor Shop for a number of years. In Fargo he was member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus where he enjoyed participating in the a annual fish fry.

Nick is survived by his wife, Hetty of Fargo; sister, Sophie (Steve) of San Diego, California; his daughter, Julia Pappas of Overland Park, Kansas; two sons, Byron (Gina) Pappas of Bethesda, Maryland and Charlie (Susan) Pappas of Holts Summit, Missouri; two grandchildren, Melissa Kempker of Jefferson City, Missouri and Alexander Pappas of Bethesda, Maryland; two great granddaughters, Madison and Camryn Kempker of Jefferson City, Missouri.     

Instead of fowers the family request donations to the Knights of Columbus or St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

  1. Omaha NebraskaVery sorry to hear about Uncle Nicks passing. I remember the last time I was there, how we went to his work and he gave us a tour of the place(quite a while ago). He was a good guy and will be missed a lot.

    Nick will be greatly missed. Being one of his main care-givers at Bethany, I created a very strong relationship with him. I always asked him to tell me stories of his past and all his trips. I remember him telling me about the train rides to and from, and that his favorite trip was to Slovakia. Such a sweet man who I will miss dearly.
