Nichole Ann Schwartz (Young) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February, 23, 2025 at Essentia Hospital. Nikki was born on September 4, 1975, to Colleen and Russ Young in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Fargo North High in 1994, and then attended Rita’s Beauty College in Moorhead, MN. She started her career as a hairdresser with Cost Cutters, later switching to Great Clips. She was still employed there part time, as well as working at NDSU serving in the Main Dining Hall. She also worked for PRACS for a time.

Nikki got to know so many people over the years. She grew up on the North side of Fargo with her cohorts in crime, Kristen and Stacy, along with many other friends. She then met the love of her life, Matt Schwartz, in May of 2008. They were married on April 28, 2012 in Las Vegas, NV. They then had a wedding reception that July at the Fargo Air Museum. Nikki and Matt had a special bond and did everything together. They loved camping when they could but they both worked hard at their jobs and had little free time. Nikki loved to cook and at any gathering came with arms full of food. Matt also had an arm full. She loved planning surprise parties with her sisters. She loved their dogs and always had at least 3 at any given time, Butter and Roxy crossed over the rainbow bridge, and left MoJo, Ralphie, and Coco.

Nikki is preceded in death by her father, Russ; uncles, Jack, Denny, and Bob; aunts, Sharon, Pat, Judy, and Debbie.

She is survived by her husband, Matthew; mother, Colleen; sisters, Monica and Jess (Tom); nephew, James; and nieces, Tru and Jemma. Also, by mother- and father-in-law, Lois and Richard Schwartz (Reeder, ND), Matt’s siblings, Sam and Melissa (Omaha, NE), David and Terri (Harwood, ND), Vicki and Victor Brooks (Thornton, CO) and Marc and Renee (Dickinson ND). As well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Our thanks go out to all of you who knew Nikki and are with us today. Our hearts are heavy with grief and shock. Thanks also to the doctors, nurses, paramedics, and support staff that tried so hard to save our Nikki. May she rest in peace.

We will miss you so much.

  21. Nikki opened her arms and heart to me from the moment I met her (not the easiest thing to do, being from different states ). Her uncle Sean was completely devastated when I broke the news and wanted to come home immediately to go and be with the family. It’s one of the few times that I’ve heard him cry. We’re still in utter shock and disbelief. The loss of this glorious and glowing soul will be forever felt. Though we are glad that she had others to welcome her as she went on to her next adventure. ❤️
