Nola Mae Meredith, 77, passed away July 24, 2022, at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo.

Nola was born March 19, 1945, to Gordon and Frances (Bloomensaat) Ellefson in Sharon, ND. She grew up in rural Griggs County. Nola married Jim Meredith in 1962. In 1972, as a single mom, she and her two sons moved to Finley, ND. While living in Finley Nola worked at Finley Sharon public school, the Steele County Auditors office and the Steele County ASCS office. During her time in Finley, Nola was also an EMT. In 1989, after raising her sons, she attended East Grand Forks Technical School for Respiratory care and worked as a Respiratory Therapist. In 2001, remarried Jim Meredith and moved to Tulsa, OK. Jim later passed away in 2007 and Nola then moved back to Fargo. She resided at Bethany on University from 2016 until her passing. Nola dearly loved her family and was devoted servant of Jesus Christ.

Nola is survived by her sons, James (Janice) of Springfield, MO, Jason (Valarie) of Great Falls, MT; siblings, Wanda Kay Niess, Valley City, ND, Becky (Denis) Thompson of Kalispell, MT, Todd (Jill) Ellefson of Aneta, ND; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Meredith; and brother-in-law, Marlin Niess.
A visitation will take place from 5-7 PM Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. Visitation will continue from 1-2 PM followed by a funeral service at 2 PM Friday July 29, 2022, at the Ottawa Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

  1. Offering my sincere sympathy, Have good memories of Nola and remember her smile. I wouldn’t be able to attend the funeral but will stop ar the churchlater.

  2. I wish I could be there. Nola was a kind, happy person. Very easy to love. My deepest sympathy is extended to her sons, James and Jason, and to her daughters-in-law, and to all of her family members and friends. We will all miss her.

I worked with Nola for several years in the Auditor’s office and what a wonderful friend she was…a great mother and also caring so much for the community as she volunteered for ambulance and her church very diligently. My sympathy to all of her family! May God be with you as she is with Him now, too!
