Norma “Mickey” Jane Magelky, 93, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at Sheyenne Crossings Care Center, West Fargo, ND.

Mickey was born on September 4, 1928, the daughter of Ralph and Emma (Werre) Lipelt in Elgin, ND. Named Norma, she quickly became Mickey to her family because of her dad’s love of New York Yankees player Mickey Mantle, and the name stuck. She grew up in Elgin, ND with her seven siblings in a three room house. When her brothers went to war, she and her sister, Phoebe, helped their dad with his masonry work. After graduating from Elgin High School, she stayed in her hometown and worked at the Vossler Grocery Store. She was united in marriage to Anton “Tony” Magelky on November 2, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck, ND. They moved all over the state following her husband’s construction work and finally settled in Fargo, ND. While Tony spent much of his time on the road for work, Mickey stayed home to raise and care for their five children. She was proud of her work as a homemaker and was involved in her children’s lives as they grew up. After Tony’s retirement, Mickey started a job at Longfellow Elementary School serving lunches and working with kids. In total, she lived in the family’s north Fargo home for 57 years. Mickey had a love for fishing, attending her grandchildren’s games and playing cards.

Mickey is survived by her children, Michael (Barbara) Magelky, Fargo, ND, Patrick (Phyllis) Magelky, Argusville, ND, Mark (Lori) Magelky, Lake Park, MN, Toni Marie (Steve) Grabinger, Lake Park, MN, Lori (Ken) Ruhland, West Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; siblings, Ralph (Judy) Lipelt, Howard Lake, MN, Cathryn Pearson, Bismarck, ND, and Bonnie (Lee) Jacobson, Bismarck, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton “Tony” Magelky, her parents and siblings, Marion Shaw, Grant Lipelt, Phoebe Erickson, and Arlene Nissen.

Memorials are preferred to Ethos Home Care & Hospice.
