Olaf Homdrom

Olaf Homdrom, 87, Fargo, passed away Friday, October 10, 2003 at Villa Maria, Fargo
Olaf Homdrom was born on August 3, 1916 on a farm near Williston, North Dakota. His dad, Arnie Homdrom died in March of 1922 and his mother, Annie Homdrom, moved the family to Erskine, MN where Olaf grew up and graduated from High School in 1934. He worked on farms in the Erskine area until 1936 when he began his employment with Interstate Power Co., Dubuque, Iowa as an apprentice electric power lineman. Olaf married Sally Salem on June 19, 1941. They made their home at Chatfield, MN until the following June of 1942 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served with the 81st Signal Company in the Southwest Pacific Area until his discharge on December 12, 1946. He then resumed his employment with the Interstate Power Co. until September 1947 when he accepted the position of Transmission Line Superintendent for Minnkota Power Co. at Grand Forks, ND. He owned and operated a Taxi Cab Co. at Thief River Falls, MN from July of 1952 until July of 1954. He then accepted a position of Safety and Job Training Instructor for the North Dakota Electric Cooperatives, Wahpeton, ND. In May of 1957 he accepted a position with Cass County Electric at Kindred, ND. He held positions of Line Superintendent, District Manager, and Service Manager until his retirement on September 1, 1981.
Olaf and Sally built their home in Kindred, ND in 1958 and sold the home in November of 1983, when they moved to Fargo. Olaf was a lifetime member of the West Fargo VFW and the American Legion. He loved to play cribbage and watch sports on television, especially the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings.
