Vetta’s service will be livestreamed below starting at 10:30 AM Friday February 23, 2024.

Olivetta Loveland of Fargo peacefully passed away on February 18, 2024 at the age of 93 after a long and beautiful life. She was born in Bismarck, ND on May 31, 1930 of humble origin and married her soulmate, Edwin Loveland, on December 31, 1948 in Wilton, ND. They were blessed with six children and began their life together as the only residents of Still, ND where Ed owned a grain elevator. In 1957, Ed, Vetta and their young family moved to Wilton where they lived until 1967 when Ed’s position as a salesman for Chevron Chemical Company brought them to Fargo.

Vetta was a class act, an inspiration and an eternal optimist. She was a loving mother, devoted volunteer and was deeply patriotic. She epitomized the common saying, if you want something done, ask a busy person to do it. As the first to volunteer to help with any challenge, Vetta proved herself a strong leader and dear friend to many.

In Wilton, Vetta served as the president of the American Legion Auxiliary and became the Wilton Public Affairs Chairman. She was active in multiple other organizations including the Sacred Heart Altar Society, the Wilton PTA and the Wilton Women’s Club. In 1965, she was voted Outstanding Young Woman of America by a national organization for her dedication, inspiration and integrity.

In Fargo, Vetta’s passion for service grew and she worked with the March of Dimes as National Volunteer Advisor for over 30 years. Vetta was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary and was president for many years. Her leadership and initiative made her a role model and icon among fellow volunteers.

Vetta will be forever remembered by her children, Sharon (Dave) Humphrey, Karol Potter, Bryon (Tina), Vanessa, Jeffery (Donna Calvelli), Jennifer Loveland and her brother Donald (Kay) Dimond. They, along with her 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Ed; brothers, Lyle and Willard; and her sons-in-law, Bob Potter and Paul Emerson.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Friday February 23, 2024 at 10:30 AM followed by a reception in the church hall. Visitation will take place one hour prior. Vetta touched the lives of everyone she met and her sense of humor, unflappable positivity and incredible devotion to her family will remain in our hearts forever.

The Loveland family would like to thank you all for your love and support.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fargo American Legion Auxiliary Unit #2
