Orin Paul Shoemaker
January 1, 1970 ~ December 20, 2005
Orin Paul Shoemaker, 83, passed away December 20, 2005 at his home in Priest River, Idaho. He was the fifth child of Orin Faye Shoemaker of Thompson, Illinois and Margaret Theresa McDonald of Valeria, Iowa.
Born July 20, 1922, Orin spent his childhood growing up in Fielding Iowa where his family ran a general store. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Salix, Iowa. Upon graduation he joined the Army Air Corp which later became the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Orin went with the Air Force and made that his career. He retired as a Master Sergeant.
Orin loved life and and was quite a jester. He loved to pull pranks on his friends. He liked to watch western movies and all sorts of sports shows. He dearly loved all children and animals.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley, son Neal Pat and daughter Cindy, brothers Raymond and Bud and sisters Thelma, Audrey and Marguerite. Orin is survived by his sons Michael and Stephen Shoemaker, and daughters Joan Sullivent, Robyn Bynum, Diane Owens, and Lisa Votava, brother Richard Shoemaker, sister Lavonne Oelklaus and several nieces and nephews. He has many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss him dearly. He leaves behind many friends.
Orin left this world peacefully in his sleep after a short illness. His family was at his bedside surrounding him with love.
Funeral Services are being handled by Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro, North Dakota. Services are set for December 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Viewing will be 1 hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Grand Forks where he will be layed to rest beside his wife.
