Orlin John Greene, 83, Fargo, ND died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Bethany Homes, Fargo. Orlin John Greene, the son of Elmer & Molly (Torgerson) Greene was born November 8, 1923 at Cavalier, ND. He grew up on a farm near Langdon, ND. He graduated from Langdon High School. Orlin farmed with his father until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. in 1943. He served in the South Pacific, Guam, the Marianas Islands, Okinawa, and the Ryukyu Islands. After his discharge in 1945, he returned home and continued to farm with his father. Orlin married Shirley Howatt October 11, 1947 in Langdon. The couple made their home on a farm near Langdon until moving into Langdon in 1961. Orlin worked for the Army Corps of Engineering at the ABM missile site near Nekoma, ND until he retired. The couple moved to Fargo in 1986. Orlin has been a resident of Bethany Homes for the last 5 ? years. Orlin?s passions were refereeing basketball games, including state basketball tournaments, and Langdon Legion baseball. He was also the past commander of the Langdon Legion. He served on the church council of Pembina Lutheran and United Lutheran Churches. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three children, Wayne, Fargo, Peggy (Scott) Mahlum, Sacramento, CA, and Timothy (Jeanne) Devils Lake, ND; a sister, Melva ?Peggy? (John Sr.) Kuester, Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter-in-law Terri Greene West Fargo, ND; and six grandchildren, Erik Mahlum, Ryan Mahlum, Joshua Greene, Jace Greene, Jayla Greene and Jacob Greene. Memorial Service: Wednesday 2:00 p.m. United Lutheran Church, Langdon, ND Memorial Service: Thursday 2:00 p.m. Mavis Whiting Chapel in Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND Burial: ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
