Patrick S. McManus, age 51, passed away following a short and difficult battle with cancer, surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 10 p.m. in Fargo. Born on January 7, 1973, in Fargo, ND, to L. Patrick McManus and Sonia (Grossman) McManus, Patrick was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Patrick was baptized at St. Anthony of Padua Church, confirmed at Nativity Church, and he attended Nativity and Shanley schools, graduating in 1991. He pursued studies locally, before moving to the Poughkeepsie, NY, region, where he married Andrea Greggo and they welcomed their two sons, Connor and Quinn, into the world.
In New York, Patrick worked in construction and banking. It was his time spent with his sons that he cherished the most. An avid collector, Patrick collected baseball cards, sports memorabilia and friendships. He loved golfing, fishing and spending time at the family lake home on Pickerel Lake, where many memories were made. Patrick excelled in math and basketball and was proud of his Irish heritage. He befriended people everywhere he went, connecting and bringing laughter and levity to any situation with his one-of-a-kind wit.
In 2020, Patrick returned to live in Fargo, working alongside his brother Ryan in construction. His sons spent time living with him in Fargo, with Connor being a primary caregiver during Patrick’s battle with cancer, along with Patrick’s girlfriend Jaclyn.
Patrick is preceded in death by his father, L Patrick McManus and grandparents Arby and Bernice Grossman; and Edward Philip & Ernestine Catherine (Schober) McManus. He is survived by his sons, Connor and Quinn; his mother, Sonia; siblings Maureen (Craig), Greg (Reann), and Ryan (Heather); and his nieces and nephews Andrew, Alex, Moira, Flynn, Oliver and Aurelie.
Visitation will be held at Boulger Funeral Home on Thursday, October 3 from 5-7 p.m. with sharing time at 6 p.m. A Mass and memorial service to celebrate Patrick’s life will be held on Friday, October 4 at 3 p.m. at Nativity Church, with visitation prior to the memorial service on Friday at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center or St. John Paul II Catholic Schools in Fargo.
Patrick will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his humor, friendliness and love for his family.
