Paul Allen Gisvold, age 62, passed away peacefully in Fargo, North Dakota on September 3, 2021, after a long-fought battle with cancer. Paul was born to Joyce (Stordahl) and Marvin Gisvold on November 18,1958 in Fargo, North Dakota. He grew up near Hope, North Dakota on the family farm. Paul attended Hope High School and graduated in 1977. After high school, Paul enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard and served from 1977 to 1983 and worked in the Galesburg and Hunter Elevator during that time. On August 29, 1981, he married Wendy (Bjerke) Satrom and together they had two sons, Luke and Eric Gisvold. Paul became a loyal employee of Fagen, Inc. and travelled the country working for them for 25 years where he met his dear friend, Judy Hempel. Paul will always be remembered for his infectious smile and laughter that could easily fill a room. His family remembers his generous personality and constant care for those around him. When he wasn’t working, Paul was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandson Asa and taking care of his farm near Warwick, North Dakota. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Marvin Gisvold, his brother, Matthew Gisvold, and nephew Brady Gisvold. Paul leaves behind his two sons, Luke (Cassandra) Gisvold of Fargo, ND, Eric Gisvold of Warwick, ND, two brothers John Gisvold of Fargo, ND, Mark (Shari) Gisvold of Warwick, ND, two sisters Joelle (Roger) Maier of Barnesville, MN and Teresa (Tommy) McLaughlin of St. Cloud, FL. Paul was adored by his many nieces and nephews, Joshua Moen, Jessica Simons, Morgan (Mitchell) Keena, Hudson Gisvold, Ava Gisvold and Whitney Gisvold. Paul also had one great nephew and one great niece, Chase Moen and Stella Simons, and one grandson, Asa Gisvold. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 at 2pm at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND, with visitation beginning at 1pm. The family will be hosting lunch afterwards at The Biltmore on Main Avenue in Fargo. In lieu of gifts, please consider a donation to the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo who provided great care to Paul during his battle with cancer.

  1. Gisvold family are close friends of the Satroms. Paul and his brothers (sisters) have many a stores to tell. Hard working, kind hearted and giving was Paul. RIP my friend.

  2. We grew up down the road from Marvin, Joyce, and their kids. Many fun times. Our sympathies to the Gisvold family.

  3. Pauly was the true king of hearts! He would do anything for anybody, he didn’t care who you were! Anyone who knew Paul loved him and his free spirit! He loved to dance and all of the ladies, including me, would stand in line just to get spun around the dance floor. Love you buddy, enjoy your next dance! ❤️💕
