In Loving Memory of Pauline Helena Knudson

Pauline Helena Knudson, age 90, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2023, at her home in Fargo, ND. She was born on May 1, 1933, in Esmond, ND, to the late Paul and Veronica (Thomas) Grossman.

Pauline grew up in the Esmond/Harvey, ND area. On November 3, 1949, at the young age of 16, she entered into marriage with her devoted husband, Orville Knudson, in a joyous double wedding ceremony alongside her sister Martha and Leo Erfle in Underwood, ND.

Throughout their marriage, Pauline and Orville lovingly created their home in various locations before ultimately settling down in Fargo in 1966. As a dedicated homemaker, she embraced her role as a Domesticated Engineer, ensuring that her family was provided for and cared for with all her heart. Pauline and Orville traveled together extensively during his years as a crane operator, towing their trailer house from one work site to another.

Remembered for her incredibly generous nature, Pauline had a passion for cooking and was always ready to whip up a delicious meal for anyone who walked through her door. She had a kind spirit and an unwavering belief in saving things, always holding onto items in case someone might need them. It was her way of ensuring that no one would go without.

Pauline is survived by her beloved children; Allen (Patricia) Knudson, Casselton, ND, Dean (Connie) Knudson, Fargo, ND, Deb (Jim) Plueger, Pipestone, MN, David Knudson, Hannaford, ND, Tim (Jill Hilpert) Knudson, Richmond, MN; sister, Martha Lee; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  1. Knudson family sorry to hear about Aunt Pauline passing. She was a sweet lady. I enjoyed visiting with her when I was with my mom once and awhile when we would come to town. It’s been awhile but I did enjoy those times. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Love Marti and John Olson. And Dan and Bonnie Evert

  3. Deb and families, So sorry for your loss. I did not know her but from what I have heard she was a wonderful woman. Treasure your memories and keep them very close to your heart.

  4. A wonderful lady Aunt Pauline is. Made every effort to make a family event. Enjoyed the lunches we had with your sister Martha & cousins. We have memories with lots of laughs. When we get together you all made me laugh. I believe its in the Grossman character you knew how to make a person feel good and the food was awesome. Grossman ladies sure knew how to cook. If you went hungry it was your fault. I will always think of my aunt in a good light.

  5. To my dear cousins, Al, Dean, Deb, Dave and Tim, we are so sorry for the loss of
your mom, (our Aunt). Her door was always open to anyone who wanted a cup
of coffee or just to stop and see her. She was always so kind and fun to visit!!!
We will definitely miss her! She now is pain free. We are left with many many
wonderful memories and all the good times our families have had over the years!
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. RIP Aunt Pauline. We love you.

  6. RIP WONDERFUL LADY, you were one of the most kind, loving, understanding people I’ve ever met. I’ve respected and loved you for years, I will miss you so much, visiting each summer and going to brunch, laughing and remembering old times! You never had a harsh word to say about anyone , never a complaint about anything. You were a remarkable person and we’ll all miss you! You’re now in God’s loving arms and with your husband and family! Love you

  7. Grandma I love you and will miss you so much! I treasure all the memories we have on 17th St and beyond!! . I feel so blessed to have a Granny like you! 💕
