Pearl O'Gorman

Pearl Marie Bartholomey born August 26, 1924 to Andrew and Margaret Bartholomey, passed on August 8, 2019 to return to her heavenly home at the age of 94. Pearl attended rural grade school and Halstead High School, graduating at the age of 16. She was active in Marching band and Drama club. Pearl continued her education at Interstate Business College receiving her degree in Business. On November 4, 1943 Pearl married her best friend and fellow Parishioner, Edward James O’Gorman, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro, North Dakota.
Pearl and Ed were blessed with a loving family of six children, rearing their children on the farm till 1951 when Ed and Pearl moved off the farm and into Hillsboro. While in Hillsboro, Pearl was President of St. Rose of Lima Altar Society, a Cub Scout den mother, and actively assisted 4H groups.
In 1964 they moved to Moorhead, Minnesota where she was an active member of St. Joseph’s church and school, supervising the kitchen for St. Joseph’s school for several years. In 1969 they relocated to Loveland, Colorado where Pearl owned and operated an Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant. Continuing her love for education, Pearl went back to school to become a realtor. She worked in Real Estate until retiring to Chandler, Arizona in 1974.
Pearl was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chandler, AZ, and frequently volunteered her time and efforts to St. Vincent DePaul. Ed and Pearl were seasoned travelers, spending summers in North Dakota and winters in Chandler, Arizona. In 1990 they built their final home in Fargo, North Dakota, a residence that has seen generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and holds as many memories. Ed and Pearl both resided in North Dakota until each of their respective passing.
Pearl O’Gorman is survived by five of her children: Mary Barkley, James O’Gorman (Jo Ann), Theresa Stone, Timothy (Sylvia), Sue Johnson; grandchildren: Beth Evans, Christine Knipe, Cathy Nelson, Vernon JR Nelson, Crystal Curtis, Don Gray, Michelle Brown, Jennifer Reimer, Michael O’Gorman, Brendon O’Gorman, Donovan O’Gorman, Jolene O’Gorman; and twelve great- grandchildren.
Preceded in Death by: Margaret and Andrew Bartholomey, Edward James O’Gorman, Richard O’Gorman.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2019 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo, with visitation starting at 5:00 PM.
Funeral Service: 11 AM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow luncheon at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro.
