pennie platt

July 7, 1950 ~ November 13, 2022

Resided in: Casselton, North Dakota

Pennie passed away unexpectedly and peacefully, on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at her home in Casselton, ND.

Pennie Sue Jones was born on July 7, 1950, the daughter of William and Betty Lou (Glenn) Jones in Ohio. At an early age she moved to California with her family where she received her education, later attending cosmetology school as well.

Pennie was united in marriage to James Platt on February 11, 1968 – it was a quick wedding in Las Vegas at the Little White Chapel while he was on leave from his military service in the United States Army. They made their home in various places until ending up in Minnesota where they raised their family.

Throughout her life Pennie had a special love for children and was proud of her work as a daycare provider in her home for many years. Most recently her and Jim have made their home in Hope, Clifford and finally in Casselton, ND.

Pennie will be greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. She was not only a mom to her children, but to many others throughout the years. Pennie always saw the best in everyone and loved and supported her kids through anything. She was a kind and generous person and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Pennie had many hobbies that she enjoyed, some she tried and liked, some she never got around to trying – but whatever the interest was, Pennie gave it her all. Her most favorite and most time consuming, was her love of family and ancestry.
Pennie is survived by her husband, James of Casselton; her children – Michael Platt of Lima, OH; Jaime (Jeffrey) Conrad of Ortonville, MN; and Philip Platt of Hope, ND; her grandchildren – Chessica (Michael) Overson, Dylan Platt, Eric Burley, Matthew Earles, Justin (Sam) Johnson, Ashley (Evan) Snell, Cortney Kjonaas, Tanisha Platt, Sasha (Nick Noyes) Platt, DeAnna Platt, McKenzie (Tyler Braunhausen) Platt, Philip Platt Jr., Brooklyn Conrad, James Conrad, and Abigail Platt; and her great-grandchildren – Kendra Overson, Brayden Overson, Serafina Rieli, Reid Burley, Zaedyn Davis, Remington Noyes, Kyrie Davis, Eli Johnson, Payton Earles, Kash Noyes, Khalliah Turner, Asher Johnson, Oliver Braunhausen, and Phoenix Kosir.

Also surviving is her brother, William “Buddy” (Wendy) Jones of Marshall, TX; and her sister, Cindy Post of California, brother and sisters-in-law, Janice Johnson, Breckenridge, MN, Rolland “Rocky” (Cindy) Platt, Pelican Rapids, MN, Allen (Connie) Platt, Pelican Rapids; and several nieces and nephews and many other very dear relatives.

Pennie was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers-in-law, Jerry Platt and Gary Johnson; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Brown and Iverna “Tippy” Platt; her parents-in-law, Raymond and Leora Platt; and her great-grandson, Kipling Noyes.

The floral tributes will be donated in memory of Pennie to Hope Blooms in Fargo following the funeral service.
