Philip Gillerstein

Philip Gillerstein, 92 of Fargo, died Sunday, June 28, 2009.
Philip was born on March 28, 1917 in Fargo, North Dakota to Joseph and Anna (Askanase) Gillerstein. He graduated from Northern Illinois with a O.D. degree. He practiced in Chicago, Illinois as an optometrist. He entered the US Navy in 1942 and served in the Middle East, Africa and South Pacific Theaters. He married Betty Linahan on June 25, 1947. He was also a co-owner of Chub’s Pub and Package Place in Fargo, retiring in 1981. Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and playing the penny slots.
Philip is survived by his wife, Betty of Fargo; children, Pam (Bruce) Stiles of Fargo, Kathy (Doug) Morken of Chandler, AZ, Bill (Jackie) Gillerstein of Fargo, Jon (Gloria) Gillerstein of Fargo; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Memorial Service: Thursday, July 2 at 2:00 pm at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
