Prudence Isadore Erickson, 102 Fargo, ND died Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Bethany Retirement Living Center on University.

Prudence Isadore Yager was born to Samuel and Isadore (Reed) Yager on June 18, 1912 in Tower City, ND.  After completing high school she received her B.A. Degree in Home Economics through North Dakota State Agricultural School.  She enjoyed playing piano throughout her life.  From silent movies in Tower City to dance bands and radio in Fargo, she was happiest when her fingers were “tickling the keys”.  She married William “Skip” Erickson in Fargo on December 30, 1941.  He died in 1982.  Prudy moved to Bethany Towers in 2001. 

She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church including many years serving in the Lady’s Circle.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  Her hobbies included raising African violets and keeping tropical fish that won many ribbons at the State Fair.  She graced those around her with her love of music and at 90+ years received a standing ovation at the Celebration of Women and their Music at the Fargo Theatre. 

She is survived by her sons:  James Erickson (Margaret) Moorhead, MN, Joseph Erickson (Joe Pittman) Raleigh, NC; grandchildren:  David Neil (Leah) Fargo, Jennifer Dunkin (James) Shelly, MN, James R. Erickson, Minneapolis, MN, Benjamin Erickson, Fargo, ND, JoLynne Shaffer, Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren:  Kaleigh, Jacob, Jocelynne,  Katie and Jimmy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother: Phillip.

  1. Mahnomen MnI only met Prudence one time. I was playing with the George Schoen Orchestra and Prudence and her husband Skip, were playing that night. It was a Holy Saturday night, and Prudence kept asking George to play Easter Parade. He finally gave in and Pruddy was playing and singing at the same time. Good memories. May GOD bless the memories of Prudence.
