Resided in: Fargo, North Dakota

Randy passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, in Fargo, ND. He was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and adopted by Chet and Lorraine Miller. They moved back to Grand Rapids, MN, in his youth. Chet and Lorraine then went on to adopt three biological sisters. He attended college in Bemidji, MN, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Electronics. Married Kathryn Johnson of Bovey, MN, and they made their home in Fargo, ND. They had three daughters before divorcing. Randy found his biological family in 1992 and was happy to have brothers!

Randy’s career started in sales with him working for Zenith Electronics. He went on to be an entrepreneur as an on-the-road salesman in the gift industry. He retired from D&M Industries and moved to Texas in 2015 to escape the ND winters.

He volunteered with Valley Water Rescue and Habitat for Humanity. He earned his private pilot license. He enjoyed keeping the best lawn in the neighborhood, being Mr. Fix-it, wood working, grilling, driving his classic 1966 mustang convertible, scuba diving, downhill skiing, riding his Harley, driving his pontoon, and spending time with family.

Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Miller, his biological mother, Bernice Read, and his brother, Bob Read. Randy left behind his father, Chet Miller; his sisters Cynthia (Doug) Christy of Grand Rapids, MN, Tammy (Ron) Meuwissen of Carver, MN, and Sandy Lofgren of Anchorage, AK; his brother Barney (Cheryl) Read of Seattle, WA; best friend Bob Allwardt of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Janet Read of Puyallup, WA; his daughters, Becky Miller of Fargo, ND, Pamela (Steve) LaFrenier of Aurora, MN, and Stacey (LeeRoy) Bangert Jr. of Mapleton, ND; grandchildren Alex Forrett, Emily Forrett, Addison LaFrenier, Dalton (Cecilia) Bangert, and Brittany Bangert; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Guestbook

  1. I’m saddened to hear of Randy’s death. I met Randy’s through my significant other, who passed away suddenly. Randy’s spent countless hours on the phone with me with words of encouragement and being a great friend. Interestingly, we both ended up in Dallas area about the same time. We enjoyed exploring new restaurants and exchanging memories. My sympathies go out to his family. I’m truly saddened. Rest in peace my friend.

  2. To Family of Randy Miller: Please accept my most Sincere Sympathy. Randy was a polite and gentle Sales rep and in my Gift Store in Pierre. SD he sold us many gift items.. Randy was a very nice person, He knew me as Uncle Matt.

It all started when mom pulled out a stack of cards, I have a BIG BROTHER WOW this was in 1992 and when you first met mom my brother Bob and I welcomed you with open arms moms shoulder relaxed the secret was out what a gift this was I loved my new big bro

  5. Randy could do anything when it came to projects! He was always willing to help out. We were so fortunate to have Randy as a friend for many years. We spent many fun times with him at his homes in Fargo. Connie Santwire was always jealous of his 66 Pony. She graduated in 66, too. After Randy moved to Texas Al kept up with him on the phone. Randy was one great guy.

  6. Becky, Pam and Stacey, I was sad to see that your dad had passed away. I don’t know if you remember me, but Sam and I used to live across the street from you on Park Blvd. when you were all little girls. Sam passed away over 12 years ago. I saw your dad at church after Sam’s passing and we went for breakfast together. He talked about going to Texas at that time and I have often wondered what had happened to him. He was a super nice guy and he and Sam spent a lot of time working on one project or another. I am 90 years old now, in good health, living in independant living at Eventide on 32nd in Fargo. Thinking of you in my heart, remembering you in my prayers.
