Raymond K. ?Radar? Scholl, 90 of Halstad, MN, died Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Halstad Living Center. Ray was born on October 10, 1917 in Washburn, ND to Harry and Charlotte (McLennan) Scholl. He attended school in a one-room schoolhouse near Washburn. In 1938 he enrolled at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton and took up boxing. He married Arlean Schafer on February 1, 1942 in Underwood, ND. They ranched near Washburn until 1947 when they moved to a farm near Grandin, ND. They moved to Halstad in 1980 and Ray retired in 1984. Ray loved farming, especially his Angus Cattle. He enjoyed deer hunting and always made sure he caught his favorite soap opera. Ray was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum, MN, serving as an usher. He was also a 50-year member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge and a 4-H leader in Hendrum. Ray was on the North Dakota State Seed Board, Elm River Township Board, Halstad Cenex Board and was instrumental in the bridge development in Halstad. He also served on the Hospital Renovation Committee in Hillsboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlean; grandson, Randy Scholl; 4 brothers and 1 sister. Ray is survived by his children, Sandra Scholl of Vass, NC, Rayland C. (Bonnie) Scholl of Grandin, Calvin G. Scholl of Halstad, Kay Brekke of Bozeman, MT, Harley (Bonnie) Scholl of Grandin; grandchildren, Kevin (April) Bowen of Vass, NC, Nancy (Andy) Babcock of Minot, ND, Lynnae (Craig) Rudland of Minot, ND, Rochelle (Bill) Laney of Fayetteville, NC, Donna Scholl of Halstad, Jeff B. (Adele) Scholl of Whitefish, MT, Michelle C. (Todd) Blaser of Fargo, Kelly Scholl of Halstad, Nicole Scholl of Binghamton, NY; 10 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Halstad Living Center. They would also like to thank everyone for the many kind expressions of sympathy during their time of loss. Visitation: Thursday, June 26 from 5-7 pm at the Halstad Living Center, Westview Wing, Halstad, MN and one hour prior to the service in the church on Friday. Prayer Service: Thursday at 7:00 pm at the Halstad Living Center. Funeral Service: Friday, June 27 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, MN. Interment: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hendrum, MN. Arrangements entrusted to Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
