Remi Louis Lavern Beauchamp, age 93 of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Edgewood Fargo.
Remi was born February 28, 1933, on the family farm near Olga, ND, son of Aristide and Cordelia (Gendreau) Beauchamp. He completed his early education at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic School in Olga, ND and graduated in 1951 from St. Alphonsus High School in Langdon, ND. He went to work for the Great Northern Railroad until he received a draft notice from the US Army on his 20th birthday. He served two years during the Korean War at Fort Bragg, NC until he was discharged in 1955. He returned to the Great Northern Railroad where he worked as a telegrapher and depot agent for a total of 22 years. He met the love of his life, Betty (Williams), at JCPenney in Walhalla, ND. They married in 1959 and had 3 children: Janie, Jeffrey, and Danny. During that time he learned the barber trade at Moler Barber College and cut hair part time for over 50 years. He began employment at the Grand Forks Air Force Base in 1974 where he worked as a civilian in heating and ventilation until retiring in 1995. Remi and Betty resided in Minto, ND for almost 50 years where they raised their family and made many friends. They moved to Fargo in 2017. Gardening and golfing were Remi’s joy and pastime. He also took pride in donating over 16 gallons of blood and being a lifelong member of the American Legion. He lived out his Catholic faith to the end and loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty, his children, Janie (Jon) Bjornstad, Onamia, MN; Jeffrey (Melanie), Bismarck, ND; and Danny (Deborah), Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Nichole (Daniel) Smith, Casey (Goldie) Bjornstad, Callie (Ryan) Dewald, Tyler Beauchamp, Grace Beauchamp, Anna Beauchamp, Audrey Beauchamp, and Isaac Beauchamp; great grandchildren: Blake and Chloe Smith, August and Molly Bjornstad, and Ronin Dewald; brother-in-law Gerald Williams; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his 10 siblings Jeannette (Ophelia) Lepire, Omer, Doris (Oscar) Marcelin, Marcella (Barry) Belanus, Hector (Charlotte), Harvey (Marge), Rolland (Lorraine), Richard (Rita), Eugene (Ruth), and Lorraine (Orlo) Mostad. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
The family of Remi would like to extend a very special thank you to Edgewood, HIA Hospice, and all who provided exceptional care and kindness to him and our family.

Remi and Betty would come over to Riverview Chapel for daily Mass when my mother lived there. After Mass we would visit in the coffee shop with Margaret Hammerschmidt (she was french) about some wonderful experiences in life. Eternal rest grant unto Remi O Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
Janie – so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.
