Richard M. Ellingson, Fargo, passed away Tuesday, December 1 in his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Richard was born August 8, 1945 to Tilford and Olga (Boura) Ellingson in Grafton, ND. He attended Adams High school, graduating in 1963. After high school, he worked and farmed before serving in the army from 1966-1968. After his time in the army, he attended UND, graduating with a degree in Business Management. Richard worked in Ag Business Management for many years, including the John Deere dealership of Offutt Motors in Lisbon for over 10 years, Hansons in Grafton, and most recently was employed by Titan Machinery in Fargo. On April 7, 1972, Richard married his wife Barbara in St. Johns Catholic Church, Grafton ND. Richard had a passion for his work and his family. He enjoyed farming, reading many books (especially western novels), building model airplanes, hunting, and fishing. He loved spending time with both his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed being mischievous with his brother Roger, to which many “stories” have been told. Richard is survived by his loving wife Barbara, Fargo, children; Kim (John Utter) Ellingson, Fargo, Jamie (Randall) Greenley, Lisbon, ND, Erica (Scott) McDaniels, Fargo, ND, Samantha Ellingson, Fargo, ND, sister, Marion (Gerry) Steen, St. Paul, MN, grandchildren; Boeden and Griffin Greenley, Lisbon, ND, and Jade Utter, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. There will be a funeral on Friday, December 4 at 11 in Lutheran Church of the Cross, West Fargo with visitation 1 hour prior to the service in the church.
